WHERE:
Retreat Center ZIN Monastery in Vught, Noord Brabant (Southern Holland) approximately one hour south of Amsterdam.
We’ll be living in the small village of Vught in the Southern part of Holland (officially called “the Netherlands” because a large part of the country is below sea-level)
Vught is located near the borders of Belgium to the south and Germany to the east.
We’ll be staying in an old renovated monastery with a beautifully modern add-on building, including a large bright garden room where we’ll be practicing Yoga on most days except on the days when we’ll practice outdoors on the spectacular lawn of ZIN monastery.
ZIN monastery is the home of a small group of monks (fraters) and surrounded by green pastures and trees, as well as many birds, chickens, ducks, swans, horses and cows.
You will experience all the charm of the gorgeous Dutch countryside, greener than green pastures, forests, canals, windmills and flowers blooming everywhere.
We are a short bike ride away from the center of town with many cute coffee shops and eateries and just 15 min away by car to the closest city; s’Hertogenbosch with its majestic old cathedral St.Jan, canals, ancient city walls and lush surroundings.
WHY:
Vught is my home town, I was born and raised here.. it has the most beautiful countryside combined with a lot of history which I can’t wait to share with you!
ZIN monastery is one of the most peaceful, enlightening places you can find yourself in. The name ZIN comes from the Dutch word bezinnen; which means, going deep within yourself. It is truly an oasis of serenity.
Take time for yourself. Get away from the screens and dive into the lush reality of this wondrous planet. Tap into the healing power of being surrounded by Nature, conscious activity and nourishing food. Slow down and bring awareness to our shared ecology and interconnectedness.

-Albert Camus
A retreat is an opportunity to take space to feed yourself exactly what you need. For some it is a rigorous deep dive into self-study. For others, it’s a time to gently unfold, rest and soak up the magic of time. One of the benefits of traveling to a particular location far from your regular routine is that we can better recognize our unconscious habit patterns, and decide whether we want to let them go or hold on to them. From a more conscious place, we return home to our families, work and life, energized and ready for what’s ahead. The idea is to return to the world with more wholeness.

TESTIMONIALS
My 1st yoga retreat with Beate exceeded my expectations. It was my first time in Europe and I spent three days in Amsterdam and did sightseeing the surrounding areas before the retreat. I could already felt the genuinity, discipline and flexibility that the Dutch culture and values embody. But the retreat with Beate in the following week embraced them even more. I loved the Chakra theme of our yoga practice throughout the week, which brought a lot of variations in the Asana practice. We also did daily chanting and Kirtan sessions which really helped calm our minds down and brought us inner peace/focus. Besides the wonderful yoga practice at the gorgeous Monastery where we stayed, Beate's brothers, Otto and Albert Scholz showed us the beauty of nature, history, philosophy, arts and culture in Vught and surrounding cities (‘s-Hertogenbosch, Otterloo etc.) through bike tours. Beate organized everything perfectly and she embraced us with pure Dutch and Yoga philosophies. I recommend that everyone should join this extraordinary yoga journey in Holland with Beate in the future!

I absolutely loved my first yoga treat lead by Beate in the Netherlands. From the peaceful location chosen, to the nutritious farm to table meals, to the time spent in authentic live-giving conversation with the other yogis, Beate fostered a sense of community and unity throughout the entire week. She is a warm, nurturing, instructive, and intuitive yogi. Her yoga classes were beautifully put together, intentionally crafted towards reflection, and her harmonium playing created a soothing atmosphere to come as ourselves. All of us was welcome and I come away feeling more centered in myself, grounded in my place in the world, and mindful of my highest self for the benefit of the greater good. Thank you for an unforgettable week Beate, I look forward to the next time we get to flow together.

THINGS TO DO AFTER THE RETREAT
I've planned 3 AMAZING optional excursions to 3 must see cities in Holland. Additional costs will apply, see information below;
- Amsterdam, city of art, gorgeous canals and night life. Visit the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the modern Stedelijk as well as the Anne Frank house. My long time friend, Shelly who is a tour guide and has lived in Amsterdam all her life will be our personal guide!
- Utrecht, one of Europe’s hidden gems, and an emerging hipster capital. Wander the medieval old town, and canals even more ancient and beautiful than Amsterdam. My oldest brother, Albert lives here, he will be our personal tour guide!
- Maastricht, another ancient Roman city at the southern tip of Holland. This city is known for it's Joie de Vivre, boasting some of the best fashion, cuisine and architecture in the Netherlands. My partner Frank grew up here, he will be our guide on this day!
